Change primary e-mail for you who are a student

As Umeå University has switched to the new Ladok, it may be that the e-mail address you have used for your studies here is no longer the same as in Ladok. This may affect the ability to receive notifications from Cambro or Moodle. Therefore, you need to log in and check your email address.

Umeå University has switched to a new version of Ladok, the system where your courses, programs, and other information about your studies are stored. There is also your e-mail address.

1. Go to www.umu.se/student and log in with Umu ID

2. Scroll further down the page until you see Shortcuts and click on My Settings

3. Under Contact Details, click Change and can then change your email address and phone number.
Enter the e-mail address you use, Umu-id@student.umu.se or another e-mail address.
NOTE! do NOT write to Umu-id@umu.se or Umu-id@ad.umu.se as these are accounts that cannot receive e-mail.

After that it is clear, the student has done what he is supposed to and the new chosen address is the one that is then used in Cambro and Moodle.

The same e-mail address is also used for the student’s communication with all of the Ladok Consortium’s 37 higher education institutions, if the student is studying or has studied at these.

Q: Where do I login to my email account?

You can access your email account in the student portal on the email tab. https://www.umu.se/en/student  or direct via http://o365.umu.se

Q: Why can’t I login to the Student Portal?
A: If you can’t login to the portal, it normally means there is a problem with your UmU-id.  Send in an error report via Servicedesk

Q: Can you change primary email address?

If you want to use a different e-mail address than the one you receive as a student then you can change it yourself.

Q: How do I change it so my mail comes to my private email address instead of my student email address?

Q: How do I choose a new language for my email?
A: The first time you login to the email you will have to choose a language and time zone.  Afterwards you must go in to the options and manually change languages.

Q: How much space for email attachments do I have?
A: You can attach files of up to 10 GB in email.

Q: How do I get more help if I need it?
A: You can always talk to the people at Servicedesk in the IT department for help, otherwise there are help manuals regarding email at Outlook.com

Student mail in your iPhone

To setup email on your iPhone/iPad

1. In Settings -> Mail -> Accounts.

2. Choose Add Account.

3. Choose Exchange.

4. Fill in your whole email address and a description of what you want the account to be named, then click on Next.

5. Write in your password and then click on Next.

6. Under Server, write in outlook.office365.com

7. Under Domain – leave this line blank.

8. Under Username write in your UmU-ID followed by @ad.umu.se and then Password.

9. Click on Next and then click on Save.

Student mail in your Android phone

To be able to access your email account on your telephone (@student.umu.se)

  1. Go in under Settings -> Accounts -> Email & app accounts.
  2. Choose Add an account.
  3. Choose Exchange.
  4. Type in your whole email address and click on Next.
  5. Type in outlook.office365.com under Server and fill in your Umu-id followed by @ad.umu.se
    Click on Next and then Save.

Configure email for iPhone

To setup email on your iPhone/iPad

1. In Settings -> Password & Accounts or E-mail depending on the version of iOS.

2. Add Account and choose Exchange

3. Fill in your whole email address and a description of what you want the account to be named, then click on Next.

4. Chose Sign In

5. Write in your password and then click on Next.

6. Under Server, write webmail.umu.se
Under Domain, write ad
Under Username write your Umu-id and then Password. If it is OK you get a checkmark next to all fields.

7. Here you select witch services you want to activate.

8. Click on Next and then click on Save
